You can bring your existing number to Popcorn from any US carrier through a process called number porting.

šŸ“Ž What you’ll need

Make sure you have the following details from your current carrier before initiating the port:

  • Phone number you want to port

  • First and last name

  • Address (as shown on your bill)

  • Account Number

  • Transfer PIN

āš ļø Please note:

  • The Transfer PIN is a temporary security code (usually valid for 4–7 days) used to authorize the transfer and it’s different from your account password.

  • These details are usually available in your carrier’s app or web portal.

  • Make sure everything matches exactly as shown on your bill since small differences can delay or fail your transfer.

šŸƒ How to get started

  1. Open the Popcorn app

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Tap Manage Number

  4. Select your carrier

    • If you don’t see it, choose ā€œAnother carrierā€

  5. Follow the steps to start your transfer

Once you submit your request, we’ll take care of the transfer for you. After the port is approved and completed, you’ll receive an email confirmation from Popcorn letting you know your number is now active on your Popcorn eSIM.

šŸ’” After your number is transferred

Once everything is set up make sure your Popcorn eSIM is active and remove or disable any old carrier SIMs or eSIMs since having multiple active lines can cause connectivity or configuration issues.

šŸ‘€ Good to know

  • Your current carrier must keep your number active during the transfer

  • Porting time can vary depending on your carrier

  • We’ll keep you updated along the way

ā“FAQs

Can I port any number to Popcorn?

At the moment, we only support porting numbers from US carriers. If your number is not from the US, it won’t be eligible for transfer just yet.

Do I need to keep my current plan active?

Yes, your number must remain active with your current carrier until the transfer is fully completed.

How will I know when my number is ready?

You’ll receive an email from Popcorn confirming that your number has been successfully transferred and is active on your eSIM.

Why is my number transfer taking longer than expected?

Porting times can vary depending on your current carrier, but delays are usually caused by one of the following:

  • Incorrect details (name, address, account number, or ZIP don’t match exactly).

  • Expired Transfer PIN (these are usually valid for 4–7 days).

  • Additional security checks (this is a common security check used by carriers to protect your number from unauthorized transfers. When this happens, your current carrier usually sends you an SMS or email asking you to approve the port request).

What should I do if my port is stuck?

First, double check that all your details match exactly with your carrier’s records.

If everything looks correct and it has been more than 2 days, reach out to support and we’ll help investigate.
